I’m going to give some key findings that I have personally discovered in my race towards losing weight and getting a flat tummy.

First, let’s talk about the three main elements of any successful plan towards getting those kick ass ripped six pack abs.

  • Develop a healthy eating plan: Reduce refined sugars and processed foods. Only put the right amounts of fat, protein, carbohydrate etc in your diet. This will also reduce your risks of developing diabetes type 2.
  • Stick to a smart workout plan: carry out whole body physical fitness activities with intervals of cardio training throughout the week. You will feel better and reduce your risks of having a heart disease.
  • Take plenty of water: Our bodies are 80% water. Water facilitates all the functions of our biological systems. For your information, it also makes your stomach feel full. Drink 8 glasses of water every day. Drinking Water Helps Maintain the Balance of Body Fluids and Helps Your Kidneys: our kidneys do an amazing job of cleansing and ridding your body of toxins as long as your intake of fluids is adequate.  You will also reduce your risks of developing Kidney stones.

If you skip these 3 routines your body becomes a cactus. Your dreaded belly fat stays exactly where it is regardless of how hard you exercise. These three concepts must work together if you want to reduce tummy fat and lead a normal life.

Keep a Food Diary

My secret is more like a daily tradition or a habit that I have stuck to. I keep a strict food diary and stick to it. I note down what I eat. It may not sound much but I can assure you that this exercise was great.

A good number of people eat uncontrollably; they eat while driving, working, watching TV and even when chatting with friends. The fact of the matter is if you eat while concentrating on something else, your brain forgets to focus on the food and you end up eating too much without realizing. The results is excess weight and fat.

Noting down what you eat makes eating conscious and makes you more accountable to your nutrition. I discovered that as soon as I started keeping a diary. I also realized where all the extra calories in my diet were coming from.  I was taking an extra mouthful of this and that which made my belly remain bloated. There was no progress even when I was working extremely hard using exercises to lose tummy fat.

Keeping a food diary is as simple as:

  • Figuring out what you are going to have for dinner, lunch and breakfast and writing it in your diary
  • Sticking to that menu, highlighting when you fail and this will let you know where you need support or even change you eating habit.

Maintaining a food diary lets you manage your eating habits and become realistic about the amount of food you are taking.

My diary was a great success in the sense that I could give myself a pat every time I ate right. I was also able to make the best choices after recognizing behaviour patterns that came against my objectives of reducing tummy fat.
